The primary objective of the position is to provide responsive, effective residential supports and to lead the staff team in creating an atmosphere that places individual respect, dignity and empowerment above all else. To teach life management skills by way of role modeling, participation, instruction, and monitoring. The Job Coach assists students enrolled in the school-to-work program to prepare for on-campus and off-campus work-based and actual work activities, with particular focus on students placed in actual job placements, and works directly with students engaged in vocational and transitional school-to-work activities. The Job Coach also works in and provides support to classrooms as assigned.
The Job Coach works collaboratively with the Stetson School and works directly with students to prepare them for job placement interviews, including the completion of job applications; training in expected on-the-job behavior; and instruction and aid in the development of social and behavioral skills related to appropriate and successful engagement in the community work environment; help orient them to new job placements; and to mentor and supervise them during actual working hours in job placements. The Job Coach provides direct supervision, instruction, and support for students while in on-campus and off-campus job assignments, including the supervision and operation of on-campus vocational operations, such as the industrial and culinary arts programs. The Job Coach also aids students in other matters related to school-to-work transitions, such as developing a daily schedule that supports the capacity to function successfully in a work environment, opening and managing bank accounts, planning and following a budget, ensuring they have necessary health insurance, and understanding and managing other necessary affairs of daily living. The Job Coach interacts directly with on-campus and community-based employers and job sites, and will serve as a primary and on-going liaison between the vocation and transitional school-to-work program and job placement sites. The Job Coach works as an important member of the vocational and transitional services team, and will be directly supervised by the Rehabilitation Specialist.

The professional provides assistance to the child with self-help & self-care as well as teaching of social & Safety skills when applicable. Ongoing communication and data reporting to clinicians and coordinators regarding the approved program.

Provides personal assistance and support per the approved PASS plan to enhance the ability of children with special health care needs to live and participate as valued family and community members, thereby fostering their independence. Plan implementation of goals includes the areas of accomplishing activities of daily life, making self-preserving decisions and participating in social roles and social settings.
