Annual Pay Scale: $59,980–$75,730 (based on MA teacher license level)

New Hire Sign on Bonus $10,000 for fully licensed applicants /$5,000 for applicants requiring a licensure waiver!

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach the industrial arts/wood shop curriculum for middle and high school students

  • Lead makerspace classes for elementary/middle school students

  • Demonstrate safe practices for hand tools, power tools, precision instruments, and other equipment

  • Teach budgeting, purchasing, and record-keeping skills related to shop management

  • Create engaging, individualized projects tailored to students’ abilities and needs

  • Incorporate relevant math skills into hands-on learning

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring shop environment

  • Model dignity, respect, and Stetson’s Culture of Recovery in every interaction

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent); associate or bachelor’s degree may substitute for 1–2 years of experience

  • 5+ years recent full-time experience in carpentry, wood shop instruction, or a related field

  • Eligible for or able to obtain a Vocational Technical/Industrial Arts Education Teacher License (waiver possible)

  • Basic computer skills

  • Experience working with students in special education settings

  • Understanding of the needs and abilities of students with exceptional needs

  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license

  • Willingness to complete state licensure requirements post-hire (per MA Department of Education guidelines)

  • Ability to maintain CPI and CPR certification (training provided)

  • Able to work under high-stress situations and collaborate effectively with others

  • Strong time management skills

  • Creativity, collaboration, and resilience under pressure

  • Passion for being part of a dedicated, supportive team

  • Comfortable with physical intervention when needed to maintain safety for students and staff
