Crotched Mountain School & Village is looking for Residential Counselors to join a mission-driven team supporting children and young adults with severe neurodevelopmental disabilities. Many of our students are non-speaking and require support with challenging behaviors — but they also need safety, trust, and unwavering care. That’s where you come in!

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Support students (ages 5–21) in residential settings with daily routines and activities, communication, and personal growth
  • Use a range of communication methods (AAC, visuals, gestures)
  • Implement IEP/ILP goals and behavior strategies
  • Help create a safe, structured, and supportive home environment
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and behavior specialists
  • Learn vital skills to advance your career in human services and/or special education!

Schedule Options – 4-Day Work Weeks

  • Front End: Sun 7am–10pm, Mon–Wed 2pm–10pm
  • Back End: Wed–Fri 2pm–10pm, Sat 2pm–10pm
  • Days (as a paraeducator): Mon-Fri 7am-3pm

Qualifications

We will train, but you must meet the following criteria to be eligible according to state, school, and federal regulations, and our quality of care standards!

  • 21+ years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus ONE of the following:
  • Any college degree + 12 or more college credits in Human Services, Education, Psychology, or related field, OR
  • 2 years (3000 hours) of experience working with children or working with adults with disabilities in a residential group home setting, OR
  • Parenting experience (child age 7+), OR
  • Combo of education + experience totaling 2 years
