Area Director

 

$70,000 / year

$2,500 sign-on bonus

 

 

 

Provides overall direction and supervision of assigned area and subsidiary programs.

This position is responsible for the management of all day-to-day programmatic services of Seven Hills

Rhode Island Residential Services with the goal of maintaining and enhancing the quality of supports for individuals and/or their families.

Oversees all facets of services and programming including government affairs and relations, family and

consumer advocacy, intra-agency and community relations, fiscal management, programmatic issues,

staff issues, and contracts.

Responsibilities

Works with the AVP to establish current and long-range objectives, plans, and policies for the program.

Responsible for certification and/or licensing requirements for the program.

Works with the AVP to closely monitor operations including the monitoring and auditing of all fiscal and

human resource activities, developing and submitting agency budgets and operational plans, and ensuring

the financial and operational integrity of the program.

Provides advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to team to carry out major plans and procedures,

consistent with established policies and direct supervisory approval.

Reviews program operating results, compares them to established objectives, and takes steps to ensure

that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.

Assists with providing representation and diplomatic leadership to clients, stakeholders, outside

businesses, government entities, and the public in advocating for and driving the organization’s initiatives.

Establishes and maintains progressive and effective networks of communication to create support and understanding for department initiatives and an openly accessible environment for all employees and stakeholders.

Effectively resolves conflict.

Leads, directs, and tracks performance management programs to ensure that direct reports are developing and applying fair standards consistent with organization policies and procedures and are used as a means to develop employees.

Builds teams that endorse and support measurable quality initiative processes to boost level of quality standards; assures that all teams bring people together in the common interest of the organization.

Assists with advocating on an organizational and state level for the protection of the rights and dignities of individuals with developmental disabilities and the extension of those rights and dignities to family members or guardians.

Upholds and complies with all safety programs and policies to maintain a safe work environment for employees, clients, family members and visitors.

Supervises and directs staff towards the development and maintenance of high quality supportive

services. This includes mentoring staff to follow through on timely performance appraisals, disciplinary

and employee relations, wage and salary, and interview and hiring processes.

Protects the rights and dignities of individuals with developmental disabilities and extend these rights and dignities to family members or guardians.

Upholds and complies with all safety programs and policies to maintain a safe work environment for employees, clients, family members and visitors.

Commits to organizational quality initiatives by participating in programs that will assure quality improvement and team processes.

To act as a liaison to funding sources and other State and Federal governing bodies; to ensure contact compliance and maintain positive working relationships for all related to SHFS, Inc. and Seven Hills Foundation.

Participates in the Incident Review process as assigned, ensuring reporting requirements are met within required timeframes.

Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Maintains and takes responsibility for certifications and all trainings as required, respectful of management

leadership at all times.

Contributes to the positive morale by representing the agency through professional communication and

interactions.

Implements and fosters the principles of self advocacy which promote an independent lifestyle and

respect for program participants.

Assists people with learning about and advocating for their personal rights and understanding the

responsibilities that accompany those rights.

Follows all established policies and procedures and documents accordingly.

Complete on call responsibilities as assigned.

Be familiar with and actively promote all Seven Hills’ policies and procedures, the site’s program specific

policies and procedures and the regulations governing the program.

Complete and maintain all required trainings, certifications and licensures.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree Preferred, Bachelor’s Degree required paired with substantially equivalent combination of education and experience

5 years progressive management leadership experience in a related field

Effective written, verbal and nonverbal communication skills required

Valid Driver's License required.
