Crotched Mountain School, a program of Seven Hills New Hampshire, is seeking an Associate Special Education Teacher to join our team of exceptional professionals dedicated to improving the lives of our students.

 

About Crotched Mountain School:

Crotched Mountain School (CMS), a program of Seven Hills New Hampshire, hosts innovative special education, recreation, arts, music, and vocational programming for students, aged 5-21, who are on the autism spectrum, and/or have disabilities and other challenges that are better supported in an alternative, least-restrictive environment to their local public school system. Students have the option to live year-round in the appointed residences on the sprawling campus located in Greenfield, New Hampshire. Situated on thousands of acres of preserved habitat, CMS offers a therapeutic environment in which students are encouraged to explore and thrive.

Role Overview: As an Associate Teacher, you'll support a licensed classroom teacher in implementing curriculum, organizing the classroom, preparing materials, supervising staff, and assisting with students. Your role includes developing lesson plans, completing assessments, and ensuring a well-prepared classroom for daily educational activities.

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing instruction and academic programming.
  • Follow functional communication protocols.
  • Assist in daily material preparation and classroom organization.
  • Support Positive Behavior Support Plans and conduct academic and social activities.
  • Manage behavioral episodes positively and respectfully.
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques and safely perform standing restraints when necessary.
  • Support students' medical needs, administer medication as prescribed, and respond to seizure protocols and injury emergencies.
  • Foster teamwork and cooperation within the classroom.
  • Attend and facilitate meetings, trainings, and workshops.
  • Ensure timely and thorough completion of required paperwork, including medication sheets, IEP data, and behavioral support plans.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Willingness to work with students of all ability levels.
  • Para-educator II certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Completion of RBT training within six months of hire.
  • Develop and complete a Professional Development Plan with 50 hours of activities over three years.
