Responsibilities

Residential Counselor Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Align student education and residential services with IEP and ILP plans.
    • Assist residents with residential programs and daily routines.
    • Complete required record-keeping, data collection, and documentation.
    • Select and supervise activities suited to each resident’s capabilities.
    • Attend program and behavior meetings, orientation, and training sessions.
    • Perform household chores, with or without student assistance.
    • Ensure residents are dressed appropriately, respecting their rights and dignity.
    • Advocate for and protect clients' rights per current policies and procedures.
    • Maintain a mature and positive attitude with residents, staff, and guardians.
    • Perform other duties as directed.

 

Hours:

 

Sunday 7:00am - 10:00pm, Monday - Wednesday 2:00pm - 10:00pm 

Potential for overtime

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus ONE of the following:
    • Associate degree in Human Services, Education, Counseling, Psychology, or similar field.
    • 2 years full-time (3,000 hours) working directly with children (verifiable, paid or volunteer).
    • Combination of college credits and working with children that equals the above. 
    • Parent of a child over 7 years old.
  • Physical requirements include (but not limited to) bending, stooping, overhead reach, kneeling, lifting a child if needed up to 50lbs.
