Overview

The Area Director bears responsibility for the oversight, supervision, and quality supports provided at their assigned residential programs and is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the programs, including the implementation of each participant’s Individual Support Plan.

Hours as assigned by Assistant Vice President (AVP) and program needs, including on–call responsibilities. The Area Director is provided with a laptop, cell phone and email to perform job duties.

Responsibilities

1. Under the guidance of the AVP, supervises Residence Directors (RDs), and provides program oversight. Includes supervision of all assigned staff, their performance evaluations, and professional development.
2. Participates in applicant recruitment, on-boarding, and orientation.
3. Coordinates and manages internal on-call systems.
4. Oversees the management and development of programs, including Individual Support Plans (ISPs), assuring compliance with established regulations and guidelines.
5. Coordinates the daily operations of assigned homes, including reports, records, maintenance, and budgets.
6. Conducts/assists with evaluations of program services to ensure safety and regulatory compliance (e.g., compliance audits, MAP audits, financial audits).
7. Monitors patient recordkeeping activities for accuracy, completion and compliance with all regulations, using the Seven Hills Foundation’s electronic health record (EHR) and/or through other systems required by affiliate funders (e.g., Department of Developmental Services).
8. Ensures that programs operate in compliance with regulatory standards, including meeting requirements for licensure/certification.
9. Participate in all pertinent SHNC meetings as needed.
10. Work with families, guardians, and community providers regarding programmatic operational needs.
11. Ensure inventory and ordering of supplies are coordinated, including personal protective equipment as needed.
12. Respond effectively to potential safety hazards and emergencies. Maintain a clean, orderly and safe environment by being respectful of property and equipment. Follow proper maintenance and safety protocols.
13. Provide oversight for engagement of each participant in all planning and decisions that will have an impact on their lives.
14. Supervise staff directly and act as a team leader. As team leader, facilitate innovative, constructive problem solving. Show flexibility in approaches to problems and with people.
15. Conduct formal job performance evaluations on schedule, and complete all related tasks, including follow-up actions for staff with less than satisfactory job performance.
16. Provide oversight for program financial management, including participant finances and house petty cash.
17. Review, revise, and approve incident reports and corresponding action plans within required timelines, in partnership with SHF compliance staff.
18. Complete action plans corresponding to DPPC reports, with AVP assistance as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

1. Carry out all responsibilities professionally and efficiently.
2. Work in collaboration and in support of the Seven Hills Foundations’ operating subsidiaries.
3. Maintain regular contact and positive relationship with participant’s family members/guardians to include providing medical status updates, scheduling medical appointments, and acting as a positive liaison between family/guardian and the residential program for medical supports.
4. Follow SHF and SHNC Policies and Procedures regarding scheduling, addressing crisis situations and communicating appropriate general information.
5. Conduct staff meetings and participate in discussions of current issues impacting participant rehabilitation, inclusively.
6. Actively promote and positively role model philosophy, mission, and core values of the organization. Foster an environment which promotes SHF Core Values (i.e., respect and kindness, integrity, teamwork, innovation, service to others).
7. Implement SHF policies and procedures and funder regulations, inclusively.
8. Safeguard sensitive and confidential data.
9. Attend other mandatory in-services.
10. Maintain all required licenses/certifications.
11. Perform additional duties as required or directed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Academic credentials may be substituted with acquired brain injury-related training and/or supervised operational experience in health and human Assistant Vice President
1. services.
2. Minimum of five years residential experience required, including three years in a supervisory role.
3. Supervisory experience preferred, preferably in health and human services.
4. Familiarity with the Massachusetts DPH Medication Administration Program (MAP) preferred.
5. Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
6. Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior.
7. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
8. Certified Brain Injury Specialist preferred.
9. Basic computer literacy/proficiency, including experience working within electronic health records (EHRs).
10. Valid Massachusetts driver’s license and evidence of a safe driving record.
