Overview

The Mediation Coordinator is responsible for performing intakes and mediating all matter of mediations to include Small Claims, Housing, Juvenile Harassment Prevention Order, and Divorce. The Mediation Coordinator will conduct initial screenings for mediation services, provide case management support for mediation staff and volunteers, create and provide continuing education training for volunteers, and mediate cases for all Mediation Programs.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Mediation Director to ensure program quality assurance in furtherance of the missions of FSCM and the Mediation Program.
• Process intake and screening for all inquiries, conduct appropriate/timely follow up, schedule, and perform all types of mediations both in court and at our center, provide volunteer and mediation staff support, compile and submit all necessary intake/case paperwork in a timely manner.
• Enter data into the MADtrac database including I/R’s, Center Activity, Group Referrals, Cases, etc. and assist Director with reporting as requested.
• Enter data into our Microsoft Office Teams filing system in proper locations following protocols.
• Coordinate, create/conduct and/or participate in specialized orientations and trainings which can include continuing education, TAP, basic mediation, or other trainings as needed/requested.
• Work with Director to track volunteer observations/mediations/continuing education required by program policies.
• Attend weekly check-in meetings with Director, FSCM all-staff meetings, mandatory and optional trainings, CMC grant-related mandatory meetings, and other meetings and/or training as needed/requested.
• Agree to travel to all courts FSCM covers and/or to locations for special assignments.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned by Director in furtherance of FSCM and Mediation Program missions to include working collaboratively with affiliates and/or other CMCs as requested and/or needed.
• The hours are 9am – 5pm with the caveat that flexibility is required according to court, training or other coverage needs. Adjustments to scheduled hours must be approved by the Director.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least 1 year of experience and/or background with mediation and the ability to mediate independently.
• Certificate in Basic Mediation from an approved Mediation Training Program in compliance with MGL Ch 233 Sec. 23C.
• Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.
• Intermediate computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 programs (email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams).
• Ability to conduct mediations in Zoom, utilize software such as DocuSign, and learn new computer software and/or programs.
• Ability to travel to all covered court locations and our offices.
• Ability to work with diverse client populations.
• Ability to work well with others and adhere to protocol.
• Agree to uphold the facilitative co-mediation model and mediation rules set forth by the State Supreme Court.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Juris Doctor or advanced degree.
• Housing (Summary Process/Landlord/Tenant), Harassment Prevention Order, Divorce, and/or other advanced mediation certificates.
• Fluent in a language other than English
• Ability to provide presentations and/or trainings in person and/or on Zoom.
