Overview

The Vocational Coordinator/Teacher develops and coordinates the implementation of the Crotched Mountain School vocational and transition program.
Duties include curriculum development, oversight, and coordination; teaching career development and exploration classes; setting up on campus and off campus job opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of the transition plan in the students Individual Education Plan
  • Assess student capabilities/interests and assure a match to training/employment opportunities
  • Responsible for coaching and counseling all staff in the vocational program
  • Facilitate development of pre-vocational activities and systems to increase efficiency and complement the mission and values of to assure the quality, effectiveness and performance of vocational program
  • Perform Vocational Evaluation to obtain information on the interests, aptitudes and skills of the student related to the world of work
  • Help students apply for jobs by teaching the steps to obtaining employment
  • Coordinate employment practices with possible employment scenarios / locations
  • Create and implement vocational goals/objectives for IEP and Residential Plan
  • Create and implement Task Analysis’ and data collection tools for each job experience
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting regarding each student’s vocational development
  • Coordinate in collaboration with the School Principal and Residential Director the student transportation for employment scenarios
  • Represent the vocational program to parents, educational consultants, educational professionals, and potential employers
  • Coordinate and facilitate on and off-site experiential learning activities
  • Develop a transitional binder for each student

Qualifications

  • B.A. in Education or Related Degree
  • Experience working with students with disabilities
