Overview

Position located in Carver/Plymouth area. 

 

Provide direct support to individuals in a residential setting or provide administrative support to area office. Perform the required training and documentation necessary for group and individual participant goal achievement. Direct Support Staff is part of a professional team responsible for assisting each individual to live a safe, enjoyable life in their community with opportunities to learn and to exercise increasing independence and control over their lives. This direct support position is responsible for the provision of day-to-day services to program participants.

Responsibilities

Treat all individuals with dignity and respect in an environment that is culturally diverse, age 18-24.


Foster the growth of individuals in an age and culturally appropriate manner by teaching and offering opportunities for choice, initiation, and risk-taking that support goal achievement.


Support individuals with respect and dignity to take control of their lives, and to make wise decisions that enhance their ability to reach their goals.


Teach, assist, and support individuals in the community and at home so that the individual can learn, practice, and master skills that enable him/her to enhance his/her status by assuming socially valued roles.


Support each individual’s existing relationships and increase their networks of friends and acquaintances.


Ensure that all individuals are supported to explore and express their interest in community membership.

 

Follow Foundation and Affiliate Policies and Procedures regarding scheduling, addressing crisis situations, and communicating appropriate general information.


Perform additional duties as required or directed.

Qualifications

Undergraduate student currently enrolled in an educational program.


Commitment to assisting people of all abilities to participate fully in the life of their community.


Varied interests and personal connections in the local community.


Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history).

 

Accurate data entry skills; proficiency in Microsoft applications; excellent telephone and organizational skills


Ability to work as part of a team in a positive and constructive environment.

 

Valid Driver's License & good driving record
