The Crotched Mountain is looking for dynamic personalities who want to make a difference in the lives of others. We are seeking Residential Counselors to instruct, supervise and assist residents with activities of daily living through daily routines and to carry out scheduled activities and programs.

Responsibilities

Resident Counselor Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Aligning the student education and residential service teams to ensure consistency with IEP and ILP plans
  • Assist residents in the performances of residential programs and daily routines.
  • Complete required record keeping, data collection and documentation.
  • Select and supervise activities which are appropriate to each resident’s capabilities
  • Attend program and behavior meetings, orientation, and in-service training sessions.
  • Complete scheduled household chores with/without students’ help.
  • Ensure residents are dressed appropriately, in a manner which respects their human rights and dignity.
  • Advocate and protect clients’ rights in accordance with current policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a mature and positive attitude when dealing with residents, staff, parents and/or guardians.
  • Carry out all job responsibilities and accept constructive feedback in a professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as needed and/or directed.

Qualifications

Resident Counselor Qualifications:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Have one of the following:
    • Minimum of 2 years of childcare experience (3000 hours)
    • Associates Degree or higher with a minimum of 12 credits in a related field (ie Psychology, Education, Criminal Justice, Nursing, etc)
    • Seven years of parenting
  • 2 years’ experience in the health and human services field, strongly preferred
