The Supportive Home Care Aide/Home Care Aide IV is responsible for delivering personal care and related household tasks and activities to individuals with mental health issues under the direction of a Field Supervisor, Clinician and staff nurse. Perform assigned duties and responsibilities, communicate observations verbally and in writing, accept and use supervision, respect privacy and confidentiality, adapt to a variety of situations, and respect and accept different values, nationalities, races, religions, cultures and standards of living.

 

We offer PAID TRAINING

  • Completion of Homemaker training program=90 hours (as recommended by the Massachusetts Council for Home Care Aide Services).  
  • On-going state required staff development training=12 hrs./year, regularly scheduled SHCA meetings held twice a month.

Responsibilities

Services include assistance with:

  • Bathing, showers, sponge baths
  • dressing
  • shampoo/hair combing
  • foot care (excluding nail cutting)
  • denture care
  • shaving (electric razors only)
  • bedpan routines
  • eating
  • ambulating and transfers (under the Elders Affairs’ Personal Care Guidelines)
  • shopping
  • menu planning, meal preparation
  • laundry
  • light housekeeping, including but not limited to: vacuuming, dusting, wet & dry mopping
  • dish washing
  • cleaning the kitchen and bathroom
  • changing beds
  • prescription pick-up
  • essential errands
  • other duties as assigned by Field Supervisors

Qualifications

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • On-going state required staff development training
  • Physical Demands: Able to cope with the physical demands of the job. Can lift to 50lbs.
