Reporting to the Supervisor and the Unit Director, and in coordination with clinical services, the Senior Child Care Specialists conducts ongoing assessment of each student and each student's response to his environment and the tone of the milieu, and makes critical modifications to care plans during the course of each shift and at any given moment.
In coordination with the Behavioral Specialist, the Senior Child Care Specialist provides comprehensive behavioral support, social skill instruction, and crisis management, while creating a positive environment for students with complex emotional and behavioral needs. Senior Child Care Specialist performs a central role in developing, applying and monitoring applied functional behavioral plans.
In coordination with the Supervisor, the Senior Child Care Specialist facilitates shift functions and activities for assigned unit, ensuring that all necessary routines and tasks are completed; plans and works with the students to promote the transfer and generalization of treatment strategies and social behaviors. Supports the Supervisor in setting the tone and facilitating the residential environment that supports both the students and the staff in successfully engaging in daily and on-going recreational activities, daily living activities, and treatment activities.
Integrates specialized clinical approaches to promote emotionally positive and behaviorally supportive treatment milieu.

Conduct suicide risk assessments.
Provides comprehensive behavioral support, social skill instruction, and crisis management, while creating a positive environment for students with complex emotional and behavioral needs.
Transitions students to designated program related activites in accordance with Stetson School procedures.
Ensures that all essential student needs are met each shift, accoridng to guidelines.
Must have completed at least two years of study or obtained an Associates Degree and six months of experience in related field; two years of experience in human services with a minimum of Certificate of Achievement from pubic high school in Massachusetts, documentation of home schooling equivalent to a high school diploma, GED, or High School Diploma. Specialist training or specific skills; student intern experience or volunteer work may be credited toward experience.
Knowledge and understanding of the behavioral technology, including contingency management and ongoing behavioral assessment, is preferred.
Advanced knowledge, specialized training, and/or skill in childhood development, comprehensive behavioral programming and support, social skills instruction, crisis management, and creating a positive learning environment is preferred.
