Overview

Provides general assistance in the area of dietary needs including documentation as assigned. Provide direct support to individuals served including providing assistance in personal care activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the cook in determining the amount and type of food and supplies required for daily meals.
  • Obtains food and supplies as directed.
  • Assists in preparation of food as directed.
  • Prepares trays and serves food according to menus.
  • Checks special diet trays with diet orders before distribution.
  • Delivers food carts to resident feeding areas.
  • Collects food carts from resident feeding areas.
  • Performs dishwashing procedures, including pots, pans and all equipment.       Sets up for next meal.
  • Records dishwashing machine temperatures daily.
  • Performs cleaning duties in the kitchen, serving areas and Dining Rooms as scheduled and as directed.
  • Cleans refrigeration equipment and storerooms as scheduled.
  • Checks incoming supplies and restocks storerooms.
  • Prepares and delivers snacks and nourishments as ordered.
  • Sweeps and mops kitchen floors.
  • Removes all trash and garbage after each shift.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Department Manager.

 

Expectations:

  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal or instructions.
  • Must maintain high sanitation and personal hygiene levels.

 

  • Must communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, co-workers and other employees.
  • Completes all facility-mandated in-services in a timely manner.
  • Respect the residents’ personal and property rights.
  • Maintain resident and employee confidentiality at all times.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Work in close proximity with co-workers.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Extensive lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, walking and repetitive movements.
  • Sufficient physical strength and stamina to sustain job requirements.
  • Use of mild chemicals.
  • May be exposed to contagious diseases.
  • Must meet general health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility, including physical examinations.

Qualifications

  • Must be 16-years-of-age.
  • Must meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Must be able to work in close proximity with others.
